Organisation
A total of 50 to 70 disabled persons are participating in the project, ranging in age from 12 to 30 years. All participants are residents of the Zaria emirate.
Project activities include selection of disabled persons able to be trained to participate at the international sports events, training of the disabled, approaching states in signing an athlete, and assistance and guidance in benefiting from state involvements.
The project is enabling the disabled to represent states in the international events. This will ensure a basic income for these athletes. In the case of medal winners, they will receive further grants from these states and, if possible, even job offers. By participating actively in sports they will not feel dejected or rejected for the purpose of earning a living of street begging.
The daily activities are carried out by the Special Sports Foundation, based in Zaria. The CO Foundation serves as the implementing agent enabling the Special Sports Foundation to receive grants from foreign embassies. The CO Foundation is in charge of the financial reporting towards the donor agencies.
Activities
For proper execution of the project the CO-Foundation is supporting the project in reporting to the donor agencies to enable them to ascertain the budget andthe expenditure of the project.
