Organisation and Activities
The CO Foundation PRP started in the summer of 1999. The project includes the production and selling of dyed and printed cotton products like tablecloths, bed sheets, duvet covers, and t-shirts.
Through a grant from the Royal Dutch Embassy in Abuja CO Foundation was able to train the patients in tie and dye techniques and screen printing. Furthermore the necessary raw materials like cotton and paint were bought. And finally the building in which the project is taking place was upliftee and refurbished.
The PRP project is situated next to a leprosy village far away from the civilised world.
The project was boosted in 2004 by the revenue of a Dutch volunteer, Elly van Bergen. She worked in Nigeria within the project for eight months and build the foundation for the current infrastructure of the PRP. At the same time a Nigerian manager was employed, Virginia Ogbanje. Until date she is still working in the PRP. Unfortunately Elly is no longer with us, but she will live on in the minds of the people in Nigeria as an icon who derived joy to see people live a normal life.
